JuWanna E. Taylor is suing the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the State Highway Patrol with a wrongful death claim. Her husband, a police officer was killed in the line of duty.

Eric B. Taylor, a police officer, was shot and killed by a man that the State Highway Patrol were pursuing. Taylor had responded to a call for help from the Patrol. The patrol was chasing after Donald Matthews on August 9, 2002. Troopers did not advise dispatchers that Matthews was believed to be armed and acting dangerously. The suit alleges that Trooper Joseph Hershey acted recklessly and his actions led to Taylor’s death.
